In 2022, military assets contributed $9.6 billion to Louisiana, supporting 77,000 jobs and generating $348.7 million in tax revenue. Fort Johnson itself is home to around 8,000 soldiers, 13,000 family members, 6,000 civilian employees, and over 40,000 retirees. LAFA, previously known as Fort Polk Progress, advocates against troop reductions and promotes quality-of-life projects to sustain the local economy and make the area an attractive place for soldiers and their families.
