Water-logged Labor Day in New Orleans

SUMMARY: Flooding in New Orleans caused damage around the city. A Delgado student was trapped in his car during the floodwaters and had to use his legs to escape. A friend came to help and saved the day. Wake and Bacons restaurant also experienced flooding and will be closed for cleanup. A bar was also flooded, so people had to find a safe place to avoid the flood. Sewage and water board pumps tripped offline, causing traffic to come to a halt. The teammate of the trapped student helped salvage what was left of his car.

Streets flooded, traffic halted, a couple of cars got caught in the water around the metro area.

Pick up a deer from the side of the road in Louisiana and you could face jail time, fine

If you decide to take a deer carcass found on the side of the road, you could face fines and jail time for illegal possession of the animal. LDWF Enforcement advises reporting the incident to law enforcement and not approaching the deer, as it may be temporarily disabled but could become responsive and escape. The department also reminds people that deer are more active during the peak mating season, increasing the risk of collisions with vehicles. Deer hunting season in Louisiana ended on February 15, 2024.

Edgar L. Chase III, son of famed New Orleans restauranteurs, dies at 74
