Tropical Update: Idalia inland, expected to move into Atlantic

SUMMARY: Currently, Adalia is bringing heavy rainfall to the Carolinas, with the center of the storm over Savannah, GA and winds at 70 miles per hour. However, the storm is expected to weaken as it moves over land and is projected to leave the Carolina coast by tomorrow morning. It is then anticipated to weaken further over the open Atlantic. There were earlier concerns about the storm turning back toward the Gulf of Mexico, but most models now suggest it will be drawn northward and eventually dissipate over the North Atlantic. Other weather systems being monitored for possible development include Gert, Tropical Depression 11, and a wave off the coast of Africa. None of these systems are expected to threaten land. Dry air and an upper trough are contributing to calm conditions over land areas.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin takes a look at what is likely to happen to the remnants of Idalia after this weekend and if there are any other threats.
