SUMMARY: Tropical storm Idalia is currently moving erratically in the Caribbean Sea but is expected to strengthen as it moves into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center predicts that it may become a category two hurricane by Tuesday night and make landfall in Florida's Big Bend area on Wednesday morning. The storm is not expected to have significant impacts on Louisiana and coastal Mississippi, but Florida could experience heavy rain, wind, and surge. Rapid intensification is possible on Monday night and Tuesday. A cold front moving through Louisiana and Mississippi could bring rain to those areas. Stay tuned for updates.

New Orleans Weather: Few chances for rain Thursday and Friday, 90s temps back next week

Published

www.youtube.com – – 2024-06-19 22:50:31

SUMMARY: Alberto is moving inland, causing coastal flooding to subside by tomorrow. The storm has shown better organization, with wind speeds increasing from 40 to 50 mph due to new thunderstorms near its center. Heavy rainfall remains an issue, particularly in Mexico, potentially causing landslides. Coastal flood warnings along eastern shorelines are due to strong winds. Another low-pressure system, Invest 92, is being monitored but is unlikely to develop into a tropical storm due to wind shear. Rainfall is decreasing, and other tropical systems are being blocked by an upper-high pressure, leading to rising temperatures and heat advisories.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin says our rain chances are decreasing, but we could experience a few showers. Heat in the 90s returns next week.
