Three years on, the reward for crime tip remains largely unpaid
SUMMARY: Gary James Goulas of Brobridge tried to drown eight newborn puppies in St. Martin Parish in a crime that occurred four years ago. Despite the tip leading to his capture and conviction, the reward promised to the tipster was never paid in full. The Humane Society raised $7,200 as a reward, but a private donor who pledged an additional $4,500 never sent the check because he was not updated on Goulas's conviction. Now that Goulas has admitted to the crime, the donor has promised to send the remaining funds. Goulas pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty charges and was placed on probation.
