Smash Mouth front man Steve Harwell dead at 56, band confirms | KTVE

SUMMARY: Steve Harwell, the former frontman of Smash Mouth, has passed away at the age of 56. Harwell had been battling health issues, including alcohol abuse and liver failure. He had recently been receiving treatment for his condition but unfortunately succumbed to it while in hospice care at his home in Boise, Idaho. Harwell's bandmates and loved ones were by his side when he passed. Smash Mouth had several hits in the early 2000s, including “All Star” and a cover of “I'm a Believer” for the movie “Shrek.” Harwell retired from the band in 2021 to focus on his health.

SUMMARY: Rice defeats Cajuns in a 2-1 victory in the home series of the year. Cajuns had a record of 1-3 while Rice had a record of 3-1. David Christie got Pierce Gallo to ground into a double play to end the inning in the top 4. Luke Yuhasz flies out to right in the bottom 6, allowing Jose Torres to cut the lead in half. In the top 7, Steven Cash strikes out with the bases loaded to end the inning. Cajuns had one last chance in the game but Duncan Pastore grounded out. Rice takes the game with a score of 2-1.

Manny Garza lifted a sacrifice fly in the first inning before adding an RBI single in the third while right-hander Parker Smith pitched 7.0 strong innings to help lead Rice to a 2-1 victory over Louisiana in the first game of a three-game series on Friday at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park.

Weather: Sunny and low humidity this weekend, more humid by Monday

SUMMARY: The weather forecast indicates clear skies with some cloud cover moving in overnight. Temperatures are expected to be cooler with lower humidity levels due to a northerly wind. The weekend will be gorgeous with lots of sunshine and low humidity, allowing temperatures to reach the seventies. A cold front will bring showers starting Wednesday, with temperatures staying mild and above normal for most of the week. However, by next Thursday and Friday, temperatures will be near normal with the possibility of rainfall. Overall, the week will start warm and humid before cooling off with increased rain chances towards the end.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin says there will be sunny skies this weekend with low humidity, but expect an increase Monday. A cold front is headed our way.
