SUMMARY: Multiple bomb threats were sent to schools across multiple parishes in the capital area, leading to closures and increased police presence. Livingston Parish Public Schools canceled classes as a precaution and conducted sweeps of each campus, finding no viable threat. The school system is working with law enforcement agencies to investigate the e-mail malware issue. Livingston Parish Public Schools will reopen on Tuesday after successfully completing sweeps. Threats were also received by other schools in the area, but officials deem them non-specific and likely not credible. SUMMARY: Louisiana legislators are considering a bill to legalize concealed carry without a permit for anyone over 18 without a criminal record. Gun safety instructor Isaiah Stewart warns of the dangers of allowing untrained individuals to carry guns, as it could lead to chaos and potential disaster. Proponents argue it levels the playing field with criminals, whereas opponents, like the President of the Metropolitan Crime Commission, believe it will make communities more dangerous and hinder law enforcement efforts. Previous attempts to pass similar bills have failed, sparking a debate on the impact of such legislation on public safety in Louisiana.

“It makes any community and this community, that has that law, more dangerous than it makes it safe,” Rafael Goyeneche said.
