Proposed permitless concealed carry bill sparks controversy

Published

www.youtube.com – – 2024-02-23 22:36:28

SUMMARY: Louisiana legislators are considering a bill to legalize concealed carry without a permit for anyone over 18 without a criminal record. Gun safety instructor Isaiah Stewart warns of the dangers of allowing untrained individuals to carry guns, as it could lead to chaos and potential disaster. Proponents argue it levels the playing field with criminals, whereas opponents, like the President of the Metropolitan Crime Commission, believe it will make communities more dangerous and hinder law enforcement efforts. Previous attempts to pass similar bills have failed, sparking a debate on the impact of such legislation on public safety in Louisiana.

“It makes any community and this community, that has that law, more dangerous than it makes it safe,” Rafael Goyeneche said.
