Tornado Warning issued for areas in St. John and Tangipahoa Parish until 8:30 PM
SUMMARY: n the last few hours, strong storms have been moving across Southwest and South Central Louisiana, bringing heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds. As the storms move into Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi, the environment is less conducive for them to maintain their strength. Despite this, the storms are still strong and may cause damage. There have been reports of 80+ mph winds and a possible tornado in the Lafayette area. A water spout was also seen over Lake Pontchartrain, but it seems to have dissipated as it moved on land. The severe weather is expected to continue for a few more hours before calming down overnight. WWL Weather will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
