Monday 10PM Tropical Update: Idalia expected to strengthen as storm continues approach to U.S.

SUMMARY: Tropical storm Adelia is expected to become a major hurricane before hitting Florida. The storm is currently in the southern Gulf of Mexico and has not yet significantly strengthened. However, as it moves towards the Florida coast, it is expected to continue to strengthen. Tropical storm force winds are predicted to reach Sarasota or Tampa by tomorrow night, with hurricane force winds near the center. The Big Bend region is expected to be the most impacted, while the storm is forecasted to dissipate over the Atlantic by the weekend. This storm is not a threat to the current location.

The forecast path is toward Florida's Big Bend north of Tampa by early Wednesday.

St. Landry Parish removes adjudicated properties, aims to clean up parish

SUMMARY: The Demo Crew in Eunice is working to make their community safer by demolishing abandoned and adjudicated properties in St. Landry Parish. The goal is to demolish one home each week, starting with properties on Raymond Street and Blanchard Street in Opelousas. The team then moved to Eunice to demolish a house on Gaspard Street. Despite the daunting task of dealing with hundreds of properties, the support from residents and the prioritization of which properties to demolish first helps keep the team focused. Demolition Fridays are a regular occurrence, with the goal of making the parish safer and cleaner for all its residents.

It's Demolition Friday in St. Landry Parish, as officials work to clean up the parish one adjudicated property at a time.

Firefighters injured battling 2-story house fire in Harvey
