SUMMARY: Fire crews in Grant Parish, ARK-LA-MISS, battled multiple fires along highways 71, 1241, and 165. Highway 165 fire has been encircled and one lane of traffic is open. The fire along Highway 71 has been contained. Authorities remind everyone of the burn ban. The old Tallulah High School in Madison Parish may be renovated into a learning center for teens and adults. The estimated cost for the project is 20 million dollars. NBC 10 stations are teaming up with local shelters to get animals adopted. Extreme heat continues to be a concern, but rain chances may increase next week.

Report: Gerry Glasco expected to coach Texas Tech softball

SUMMARY: Cinjun softball head coach Jerry Glasco is expected to become the next head coach at Texas Tech, though neither the Red Raiders nor Cinjun have confirmed this. Glasco recently finished his seventh season in Lafayette, boasting a 302-88 record. Last season, he led the team to a 45-19 record, including a significant win over then-number one Oklahoma. In Sun Belt Conference play, Louisiana had a 22-2 record and extended its conference series win streak to 89. They hosted their first regional in seven years and made it to a Super Regional in 2023.
