SUMMARY: According to the World Economic Forum, the global gender gap has widened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Women have been disproportionately affected economically, with job losses and increased burden of unpaid care work. The pandemic has also disrupted access to healthcare and education, impacting women and girls' well-being and future prospects. While progress had been made prior to the pandemic, it is essential to prioritize gender equality in recovery efforts. Promoting inclusive policies, investing in women's leadership, and addressing cultural norms are crucial for building more resilient and equitable societies. Closing the gender gap is not only a moral imperative but also essential for economic growth and social stability.
