LA 1 in Plaquemine reduced to one lane in each direction for ‘critical’ repairs; work to last three weeks

SUMMARY: Traffic on the west side of the Mississippi River Bridge in Plaquemine, Louisiana may be heavier than usual for the next three weeks. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will be performing critical repairs to the LA 1 Southbound bridge, resulting in one lane in each direction between LA 77 and Depot Street. The southbound side of the roadway will be redirected into a northbound lane. The DOTD has established a contingency plan in the event of a hurricane evacuation and expects to reopen the roadway fully. Construction may cause additional delays and is scheduled to be completed by September 22.

Monroe PD hosts press conference to discuss gang arrests in the area
