SUMMARY: Residents are seeing their flood insurance rates increase by 18% as part of FEMA's new risk rating 2.0 system. Insurance agents report varying rate increases, with some as high as $15,000. The previous flood zone system has been replaced, leading to confusion and questions about the new rating system. Homeowners are advised not to let their flood insurance lapse to avoid starting over at a higher rate. The cost increases are impacting current homeowners and discouraging new home buyers. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple's office is calling for more transparency in the rate calculation process to ensure fairness.

An insurance agent said some are seeing increases up to $15,000 dollars.

SUMMARY: A Morehouse Parish man was arrested for narcotics and possession of a firearm after a traffic stop. Arkansas requires students to complete 75 hours of community service to graduate, to help prepare them for the real world. Some parents question whether this requirement is unpaid work or true community service, but there are options to apply for a waiver for extenuating circumstances. The weather will remain mostly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms in central Arkansas, but severe weather is expected to be outside of the area. Temperatures will reach the mid-80s before falling to the mid-60s and mid-40s.
