The family of the deceased is currently unknown, as there are no headstones for identification. Resident Andre Winters cleans his family's tombs and urges others to maintain the cemetery. Edna Robinson, the cemetery manager for 40 years, highlights her voluntary efforts in upkeep, urging community involvement for better maintenance. She noted this was the only open tomb but called for families to regularly clean their tombstones.

The West Crowley cemetery has over 1,000 tombs, but this is the first time an open tombstone has been seen; it is now covered but was open a few days ago. News 10 spoke to management with the cemetery who said the cemetery is not being kept up by the community.
