SUMMARY: The city of Kaplan, Louisiana implemented a curfew from 11pm to 4am in response to complaints about late-night traffic and crime. Since its implementation in July, Kaplan Police Chief Joshua Hardy has seen a significant decrease in after-hours traffic. The curfew has resulted in 20 citations being issued and some arrests. Chief Hardy acknowledges that there is still work to be done, but believes the ordinance is effective in making people feel safer. The goal is to ensure that residents can walk out of their homes at 4am without worry.
