High insurance rates and economic growth and employment were also mentioned as important issues. Roads and bridges, despite ongoing discussions about their condition locally, ranked lower on the list. Some respondents chose “all of the above” as their area of concern. When it comes to addressing crime, slightly more than half of the voters want officials to be tougher and extend sentences, while 41 percent want a renewed focus on systemic issues such as race, poverty, and unemployment.
