SUMMARY: Proponents of the federal consent decree overseeing the New Orleans Police Department rallied to support keeping the oversight in place. A court hearing was held to discuss the internal investigation of Officer Jeffrey Vapi, who was accused of overbilling the city and collecting overtime. Vapi was found to have violated minor professionalism and duty charges but not payroll fraud. The Head of the PIB, Captain Kendrick Allen, defended the decision to not investigate the more serious allegations. The outcome of the hearing could result in potential sanctions from the federal judge as violations of the consent decree are alleged.

SUMMARY: Chief meteorologist Chris Franklin reports that tropical moisture is bringing significant rainfall to South Florida, though no organized systems are present. An “invest” near Charleston has a low chance of developing. While there's currently nothing in the Bay of Campeche, early next week might see development as a wave from the Eastern Pacific moves over Mexico into the Bay. Over the weekend, no significant weather events are expected, but a potential system could later decrease rain chances by diverting moisture away. Franklin notes a trend towards less rain and anticipates a few very hot days ahead.

WWL Louisiana Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin says Invest 90L has a low-end chance of development. The lack of moisture could decrease our rain chances.
