SUMMARY: As we approach the month of August, there is an increase in tropical activity. Tropical Depression 10 has formed off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and is expected to slowly move towards the north. It may become a tropical storm and potentially a category one hurricane by Tuesday morning. The current track suggests it will make landfall near Florida's Big Bend area and then move along the southeast coast of the US. Louisiana and Mississippi are not expected to be greatly impacted, but there may be increased winds along the coast. A front approaching on Monday and Tuesday will bring some rain. Record-breaking temperatures have been experienced, but relief is expected on Monday and Tuesday with cooler temperatures.

Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford has the forecast at 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
