SUMMARY: Judy Coe McInnis, aged 83, from Big Lake, passed away on February 18, 2024. Born in Lake Charles on February 12, 1941, and a 1959 LaGrange High School graduate, Judy was a majorette leader, part of the Homecoming Court, and recognized for her fashion sense. She married Jim McInnis, and after his law studies in New Orleans, they returned to Lake Charles, where Judy joined The Junior League and worked as a tax preparer. An adventurer and hostess, she enjoyed travel, games, and community. Judy is survived by her daughter, siblings, and granddaughters; a memorial service is set for February 24. Donations can be made to a chosen charity.

DOTD to begin roughly $3 million Highway improvement on 568

SUMMARY: The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced new highway projects for Northeast Louisiana. One of the approved projects includes upgrades to Highway 568 in Concordia Parish. Many residents believe this upgrade is necessary due to the poor condition of the road, which often leads to flat or low tires. The estimated cost for this project is $3 million. Additionally, Highway 15 and Highway 900 will be improved later this year. The improvement for Highway 568 is expected to start in late Spring and be completed within a year if weather permits.
