3 teens sentenced to 20 years in death of Linda Frickey
SUMMARY: Three teenagers have pleaded guilty for their roles in a violent carjacking that resulted in the death of Linda Fricke in March 2020. They pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of attempted manslaughter and were sentenced to 20 years in juvenile detention until they become adults. The fourth defendant did not make a plea deal and will go to trial. The family members of the victim were surprised by the plea deals but are glad the teens have admitted their guilt. The trial for the fourth defendant is pending, and potential jurors are currently being selected for the trial.
The three pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter and will spend 20 years in prison, Mike McDaniel reports.

Teacher in St. James Parish school allegedly records video of student crying, school officials say
SUMMARY: Officials at Saint James parish school are investigating reports of a teacher filming a student and posting it on social media. Community members claim that Polina elementary teacher, Jenny Poser, recorded a video of a crying child and expressed frustration while teaching him. The district has initiated a thorough investigation and placed the teacher on administrative leave.
School officials said the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave during the pendency of this matter.

Weather: Rain and storms late Saturday night, blustery and cold Sunday
SUMMARY: Drive carefully in foggy conditions, warm and muggy weather expected early tomorrow with showers possible. Rain and storms expected tomorrow night and into Sunday morning, followed by dry, blustery, and cold conditions. Breezy afternoon with passing showers and temperatures near 80 degrees. Line of rain and storms moving through late Saturday night may bring locally heavier downpours, but will quickly clear out by Sunday morning. Rainfall totals expected to be up to one inch. Low end risk for severe weather with gusty winds and pockets of heavier rain. Winds picking up on Sunday with temperatures dropping significantly. Blustery and cold conditions expected into next week with temperatures near freezing on the North shore.
Meteorologist Alexa Trischler says it'll be warm Saturday and much colder Sunday with storms in between.
