SUMMARY: The Southland Conference basketball championships will continue to be held at McNeese State for the next six seasons. This decision comes after the success of last spring's tournaments that McNeese hosted. The agreement also includes three games being broadcast live on a national cable network each season. Last year's tournaments generated $3.6 million in revenue for the Lake Area, doubling the revenue of previous tournaments hosted in Katy, Texas. Some see this as an unfair advantage for McNeese, but league officials are working to neutralize any perceived advantages. Overall, this extension is seen as a game changer for McNeese and a boost for the community.
