SUMMARY: Four years after Hurricane Laura damaged the Capital One Tower in Lake Charles, Teresa Schmidt reports signs that demolition is imminent. Once the pride of the city's skyline, the tower's planned construction excited then-child Ron Reard, envisioning a burgeoning metropolis. Initially named the Kashu Marine Bank Building, it became the Capital One Tower, housing Reard's law office. The hurricane's devastation left Reard shocked as national TV showed the building's destruction. Nearly four years later, demolition equipment has arrived, and Reard views this as an opportunity for the city's rebirth. City officials plan to minimize dust and debris, with implosion expected by September.

It's been four long years since the Capital One Tower was ravaged by Hurricane Laura and became an eyesore, and now there are signs that it will soon come down.

When it was first built, it was the jewel of the Lake Charles skyline.
