SUMMARY: Credit card debt is up by nearly 16% as per a report by NerdWallet. Americans are struggling to pay off the $1.2 trillion collective credit card debt compared to last year. Experts advise consumers to start by making a plan, writing down what they owe and interest rates. They are also encouraged to prioritize their debts by balance or interest rate and perhaps consider a balance transfer card. Once the debts are cleared, it is suggested that consumers wait on credit card rewards until then. President Joe Biden has announced a plan to forgive.

According to a credit card debt study by NerdWallet, 89% of Americas are trying to pay off their debts over the next year but 50% said the rising cost of goods will affect their ability to do so.

Sara Rathner, a personal finance expert with NerdWallet, said now is the time to make a plan to go after debt.

www.youtube.com – 7NEWS – 2024-02-21 21:29:12

SUMMARY: A law being debated in the Louisiana Department of Corrections proposes to add electrocution and nitrogen gas to the methods of execution in Louisiana. Supporters of the bill are in favor of keeping the source of the drugs used in the execution confidential, while opponents argue in favor of the transparency and public disclosure of such records. The debate comes after a woman, Theresa Schmidt, shared her experience in a carjacking 25 years ago, where she was shot and her 11-month-old son killed. The bill was approved and is moving to the full house for further debate.

hould those who make drugs for lethal injection be kept secret if they provide those drugs to the Louisiana Department of Corrections?

It's a hot topic taken up in a House committee today at the Louisiana Legislature's special session focused on crime. It's part of the same bill, House Bill 6, that proposes to add two more types of execution in Louisiana – electrocution and nitrogen gas.

The bill went to a second committee, House and Governmental Affairs, because it calls for a public record exemption for those involved in executions, including drug makers or compounding pharmacies.
